B.C.'s Largest and Most Comprehensive
Geochemical Database ...
The RGS database contains analytical determinations for up to 40 metals,
field observations and sample location information for approximately 55,000 stream
sediment, lake sediment, stream water and lake water sample sites covering over
75 percent of
British Columbia. Stream sediment and water samples are collected from first or
second order drainage basins with an average density of one sample site per 10
to 13 square kilometres. RGS data identifies areas with elevated and/or depleted concentrations
of metals and is used by the mining industry to pinpoint exploration opportunities. The
database is also used to:
 | Outline regional geochemical trends and assist regional metallogenic
studies and geological interpretations. |
| Assist in the evaluation of mineral potential and aid resource management
and land-use planning initiatives. |
| Provide background geochemical data useful for environment assessments. |
