Abstract:

Polygon coverage of geology compiled at 1:100,000 scale as part of the B.C. Ministry of Energy & Mines, Geological Survey Branch mineral potential project, 1994-1996. Original coding revised and rationalized in 2001-2002 by D.G. MacIntyre.  Numerous errors and inconsistencies were noted within these data sets. The Digital Geology Map of British Columbia Project was designed to address these problems and, in the process, try to produce a seamless digital map of the Province with consistent geological tagging. Where feasible, updates to the geology have also been made during the editing process. However, some "scratch lines" remain in the data reflecting problems due to unresolved differences in geological designations in original sources.

Purpose:

This coverage represent the most up to date, seamless digital geology coverage currently available for B.C.
