When attempting to view a PDF file in Internet Explorer 5.0 and Acrobat Reader 4.0 you
may get a blank page. This problem occurs when Adobe Acrobat Reader opens inside your browser window rather
than as separate application. See Printing
Problems with Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5 and Helpful
hints to print Mineral Titles Reference Maps from Abobe Acrobat.
These are options for viewing and
printing a PDF document:
- Save the file
- Position the mouse over the link and right-click (a pop-up menu will appear).
- Click "Save Target As"·
- In the File Name box, type a name for the file (or use the default filename), and then
click Save.
- Once the file is saved on your computer, start Acrobat Reader and open the file you have
just saved.
- Re-configure your Acrobat reader settings
- Open the Acrobat Reader application
- Click on the "File" item on your menu bar
- Choose "Preferences" item
- Select the "General" preferences
- Go to the "Options" box at the bottom of this window
- De-select the Web Browser Integration item
- Note: by removing the web browser integration, you will no longer be able to link from your
document to other items on the Internet. You will still be able to follow
the internal document links.
- To print or copy only a portion of a PDF
- use the "Graphics Select Tool" to select the area of interest
- copy to the clip board and paste into another
application, or
- print to a printer or plotter
