Syenite is a light coloured coloured intrusive rock. It is
similar to granite except
that it contains very few or no quartz grains. It is made up predominantly of interlocking
feldspar crystals with minor amounts of mica or hornblende. Syenite is rare in British
Columbia.

If the crystals are very
large (more than 2 centimetres), the rock can be called a pegmatite.
