Open File 1992-16 presents fluorspar and fluorine occurrences in British Columbia. These occurrences are widespread throughout British Columbia. Fluorite has been found associated with mineral deposits in numerous geologic environments and in all tectonic belts except the Insular Belt. There are five major fluorite prospects and, though none are currently receiving any significant attention, one deposit, the Rocky Candy mine, has a history of past production. This report describes known occurrences and outlines the geological environments in which they are found. The properties described are strictly examples and may be used as models or guides in exploring for new, potentially economic showings.
