Diakow, P.Geo.
Regional geological mapping, volcanology and
metallogeny specialist
Area
of Expertise:
Twenty-three years mapping experience in British Columbia with an emphasis
on Mesozoic and Cenozoic arc magmatism and associated epithermal and
porphyry systems.
Current
Focus:
The
Bella Coola Targeted Geoscience Initiative is a mapping program
focused in eastern the Bella Coola area on Jurassic and Cretaceous
volcano-sedimentary successions and their economic mineral potential.
This two-year program, jointly coordinated by the Geological Survey of
Canada and the B.C. Geological Survey also involves researchers from
the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and the University of British
Columbia.
Past
Projects:
Detailed
mapping in the Toodoggone River (94E) focused on the setting of
epithermal and porphyry deposits, and regional mineral potential
assessment of volcanic successions in the Whitesail Lake (93E),
Nechako River (93F; discovered gold-bearing veins at Tsacha) and Bella
Coola (93D) map areas.
Associated
Expertise:
Regional
stratigraphic synthesis and evolution, tectonics.
