A Brief Outline of the Mineral Statistics Web Site Objective

Objective:
To provide quick-response, referenced and qualified; data, information and knowledge relating to the mineral economy of British Columbia.
Criteria:

Reflect the British Columbia Minerals’ Component of Canada’s National Accounts, sourcing a large portion of its statistics from Statistics Canada and Natural Resources Canada.
Provide the most comprehensive source of British Columbia's Provincial mineral data covering metal, coal, industrial minerals and construction aggregates, mineral exploration, mineral refining & smelting and mineral product processing sectors, but not including the oil and gas sector.
Offer a reference for timely market prices relating to key mineral commodities, which are important to the Provincial economy.
To list active mining, mineral-processing and exploration companies and, where available, provide hyperlinks to their corporate web sites and links to more detailed public files within the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
Structure:
The first page comprises the Sitemap and all information is easily accessed from the tabs on this page.
Moving downward through the Sitemap is equivalent to moving from the general to the particular, i.e., from the "Economic Snapshot" of the overall mineral economy, to basic "Historical" time-series statistics, to detailed mineral "Sector" tables, charts, maps and reports containing comprehensive data and information.
Caution:
For investment and strategic decisions with serious consequences, independent verification of all data and information derived from this web site is strongly advised.
