In general the BC Government quotes the
current year and sometimes the last two years of spending from B.C.
Provincial Geoscience Statistics and the historical record prior to that, from the National Exploration Survey. |
The National Exploration Survey
Completed twice annually by Natural
Resources Canada (NRCan). |
Surveys are rigorously conducted
and documented to Statistics Canada’s standard and NRCan’s
General Model of Resource Development and Mining Process. |
Results are submitted to Statistics
Canada as the official record of exploration spending for Canada’s Chart
of Accounts. |
Survey terms are
rigorously defined. |
The B.C. Provincial Geoscience Statistics
Updated estimates are ongoing from
February to December through B.C.’s Mineral Development Office in
Vancouver and the Regional Geologists. |
MEMPR staff monitor the pulse of
exploration from verbal reports, company geologists, site visits and
permit applications. |
