Mineral and coal deposits are widely distributed throughout British Columbia, and their discovery, development and production result in significant benefits to regional economies and the provincial economy as a whole. Consequently, exploration and mine development is encouraged in all areas of the province where mineral and coal tenure can be acquired.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines requires that all mines have a current Mine Emergency Response Plan as per section 3.7.1 of the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia. A Mine Emergency Response Plan must be submitted with a Notice of Work. For more information, please CLICK HERE.
