Important
Information for Researching Mineral Titles Information on MapPlace
Effective January 12, 2005 all current mineral and
placer titles online data must be obtained from the Mineral Titles Online
website:
http://www.mtonline.gov.bc.ca/. The Mineral Titles Search and
Statistics website (http://srmwww.gov.bc.ca/mida)
will continue to provide non-current mineral and placer title data that
was recorded on or before January 11, 2005. Mineral and placer tenure
information, statistics, maps, indices, and all searches from this site
are out-of-date and will not be updated beyond January 11, 2005. Current
Coal title data will continue to be available from this website.
Titles resulting from Mineral Titles Online (MTO) staking are now included
in MapPlace. Updates will be current to previous day.
Legacy claims (before January 12, 2005) are available as transparent overlays of data that are
derived from different sources. These custom maps include the boundaries
of each entity type selected. Since boundary information is derived from
different sources it may display inaccurately. Before making any business
decisions, always compare maps created at this site with the Gold
Commissioner’s map to ensure you use the best available information.
Please read the
following information to ensure you understand the limitations of the maps
produced at this web site.
-
The
maps on this site do not provide the most current information.
-
The
maps on this web site are normally updated each weekend with the
latest digital maps.
-
The
geographical location of mineral and placer claims, as depicted on
these maps, is based on the information provided by the person who
located the claim. The claim location is not surveyed and is thus an
approximation.
-
The
post location in the field establishes the boundaries of a claim, not
the position on this map.
-
Tenure
applications are not shown on the map. For example, Coal license applications are not shown on MapPlace.
-
Not
all tenures are shown on these maps. For example, Coal Leases are not shown on
MapPlace. Crown granted mineral claims are available following
the procedure in FAQ
#15. Crown grants and Coal Leases can also be viewed on PDF
Titles Maps.
-
Not
all forfeited titles are shown on the map.
-
Not
all Mineral Tenure Act reserves are shown on the map.
-
In
some cases, a claim does not appear to acquire any ground, based on
the information provided by the locator. Mineral titles that appear to
acquire zero hectares are not shown on MapPlace.
-
The
current official map resides with the regional
Gold
Commissioner.
