Fees: Application for Licence, per licence

An application for a coal licence is made to the Minister and must be accompanied by all of the following:

bulletThe prescribed application fee;
bulleta prescribed rent in respect of the location;
bulleta plan and description of the location under Section 11 of the Coal Act;

The boundaries of a licence must conform to the grid as established by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Act.

A licence location must consist of adjoining units but cannot exceed more than 20 units per licence.

For the purposes of calculating the 1st years rental, use 75 hectares per unit as an estimate for calculating the total hectares of your application.

A licence may be reduced in size upon notification to the Minister and according to the Coal Act Regulation.  Compensation or refund of the annual rental are not issued as a result of the reduction in the size of a licence.
