Area of Expertise:

Architecture and development of geospatial data management systems and applications; geospatial and statistical analysis in resource management, mineral exploration, and environmental health assessment.

Current Focus:  

Maintenance of the BC Geological Map, development of corporate spatial data infrastructure for the management and service provision of geoscience data, development of geoscience applications, and mineral potential mapping.

Past Projects:

Geospatial architect for the development of GeoBase BC, a system to manage the BC provincial base mapping and derived products; project manager leading BC’s effort on the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) Interoperability Pilot project; senior business analyst for the development of BC Digital Road Atlas data model; project manager for the production of BC gridded DEM; UAT lead on the development of Java Topology Suite and JUMP RoadMatcher; development of road data conflation specifications; and contribution to the development of Canadian National Road Network and National Hydro-Network standards.

Associated Experience:

Over 14 years experience in geospatial data management and GIS applications in resource management and environmental health assessment; associated faculty member at Royal Roads University teaching GIS courses; more than 12 years experience in geology, including seven years research work on isotopic geochronology and geochemistry (numerical analysis of mass balance) and three years experience on mining geology in one of the biggest uranium mines in Asia; other experience including hydrogeology and assessment of BC provincial ambient ground water quality monitoring network, zircon topology, diatomite, kaolin and gold deposits.
